I can’t believe it’s been nearly 50 years since I started out as an agent and nearly 17 years as a partner at Statons. I started selling homes in the prestigious North London area of Totteridge and Whetstone in 1978, starting my own business in Oakleigh Park at that time.
My passion and love of the business has not ceased and I am just as enthusiastic about selling homes today as I was back then. Its been an amazing privilege to work, and to now help run, probably the best Estate Agency and the best team this area has to offer.
I'm also responsible for running the New Homes team, which has grown exponentially over the past 10 years, dealing with some of the best developers in the area. It's incredible to see a development site that we've sold, transform into stunning homes. Family life is hectic, with two adorable children, a sixteen-year-old about to undertake his ‘A’ levels and a twelve-year-old who has an unfathomable love of her horse, I'm always kept busy...
Having attended Keeble school in Winchmore Hill and then Bishop Stortford, Nick started his career working for his father in the family furniture business in North London. In the years that followed, Nick gained experience and a passion for the property industry. Subsequently opening the first Statons Estate Agents office on Barnet Hill, High Barnet in 1986, with his sister Loraine. Coincidental in the same colours, the now distinct yellow and black, as the Keeble school colours… Over the years, the business has grown and grown to the highly respected Brand Statons Estate Agents has become in North London and Hertfordshire today. Nick, Loraine and the Statons family (as Nick always referred to the team) strongly believe in supporting the local community, taking great pride in the many local charities, schools and sports clubs they have been lucky enough to be involved with and to have sponsored over the years.
Never too busy to take calls from people looking for his advice on local property, Nick remains committed, passionate and a hands-on member of the Statons Estate Agency team. With many years of local experience, there isn’t much Nick doesn’t know about local property. Often referred to by the media as the ‘Estate agent to the stars’ with an impressive list of stars from the silver screen, TV and sport Nick lists as clients. Nick is also frequently asked to comment on the property market by the national newspapers due to his considerable experience and respected position. Outside of estate agency, Nick has an interest in the music industry, as a songwriter, he’s working with a couple of artists at the moment, you can find him on Spotify with Codi Martin or Andy Taylor with some of the songs he has written over the last few years.
Angelo has been with Statons for almost 11 years and has 20 years’ experience in the property market. Angelo was attracted to Statons due to the beautiful properties the company deals with. As a skilled agent his role includes listing properties, selling, managing the sales process and building relationships. His professionalism and work ethic mirrors the Statons brand.
I joined Statons in 2023, with previous experience working as a lettings negotiator. In my day to day, I look after the administrative tasks for both the New Homes and Totteridge offices. I have lived in the surrounding areas throughout my childhood and was thrilled to return before taking on my role with Statons. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.
Pretty village cottages and tree-lined streets, it’s hard to imagine that you’re only 10 miles away from the centre of London. This is an exclusive area and possibly the most affluent in Greater London; due to its semi-rural lifestyle and access to the city, it attracts celebrities, commuters, and CEOs.
On the Northern Line, Totteridge and Whetstone tube station is in Zone 4 and situated in the heart of Totteridge. You can reach Moorgate in under 30 minutes via the Overground train at Oakleigh Park station.
There are a number of good schools locally including St. Andrew’s CofE Primary School, St. Finchley Catholic High School, Totteridge Academy, and the Jewish comprehensive Hasmonean High. Two grammar schools in the area have a strong reputation: Queen Elizabeth’s for boys and Henrietta Barnet for girls. For private education, Mill Hill, Aldenham School, and both the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ and Girls’ schools should be considered, each providing coach services from Totteridge.
This lovely village is today set against a backdrop of farmland, parks and golf courses. It was part of the Bishop of Ely’s medieval estate; by 1357 the Bishop had a chapel and house on what is now Totteridge Park. In 1790 the church was rebuilt, known then as St. Andrew’s. There is a yew tree in the churchyard, considered one of the great trees of London, and is said to be between 1000 – 2000 years old.
Managed by the London Wildlife Trust, in the west of the village, you will find the ancient hay meadows, Totteridge Fields. Totteridge Common is a 3.7-hectare nature reserve with ponds and native and exotic trees, it is a beautiful and calming landscape to explore.
One of the first things you may notice is how well maintained the village is. Its conservation status means there is plenty of space for running, cycling, long walks and horse riding. The area is popular amongst those who enjoy sport, due to the golf, cricket, tennis and squash clubs.
Surrounded by picturesque scenery, The Orange Tree is a popular pub and restaurant set on the edge of a duck pond. With a stylish interior, Mediterranean inspired dishes and British classics, it’s the ideal destination for spending time with friends or family.
It is worth noting that Totteridge itself does not have any shops but the nearby village of Whetstone is home to a Waitrose and M&S Simply Food, as well as a selection of boutique shops next to the station.
